SUPERIOR EAST OPP: Incidents in Wawa, Dubreuilville and Michipicoten FN

MINISTRY SIGNS REMOVED UNLAWFULLY

DUBREUILVILLE, ON May 4th, 2012 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were advised by the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) that several road access control signs had been removed from various locations.  The signs had been posted on bush roads outside Wawa and Dubreuilville.  Some of the signs were recovered in the community of Dubreuilville.  At this time OPP continue to investigate and are requesting that anyone with any information is requested to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

WAWA, ON May 4th, 2012 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment responded to a domestic disturbance complaint.  As a result of the investigation a 49 year old local male was arrested and charged with following offences;

  1. Assault
  2. Theft Under $5,000
  3. Unlawfully in a Dwelling House

The accused has been transported to Sault Ste Marie to appear in Bail Court on May 9th.  No names will be released in this matter in order to protect the identity of the victim.

BREAK AND ENTER

MICHIPICOTEN FIRST NATION RESERVE, ON – May 7th, 2012 a break and enter to a residence on the Michipicoten First Nation Reserve was reported to the Superior East Wawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police.  The break in is believed to have occurred sometime between May 6th and the May 7th.  Stolen from the residence was an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency and cigarettes.  OPP are continuing their investigation at this time.  Anyone with any information is requested to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.
