MALE CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING ON HWY 17

MARATHON ON – Saturday March 2, 2013 at approximately 4:20pm, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Manitouwadge detachment conducted a vehicle traffic stop on Highway 17. The west bound vehicle, a 2002 Chevy Malibu, was observed crossing the center line into oncoming traffic causing an eastbound vehicle to drive on the shoulder to avoid a collision.

Police spoke with the driver and determined that he had consumed alcohol and was exhibiting signs of impairment.  Sheku MANSARAY, a 27 year old male from Toronto Ont. was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by alcohol, Careless driving, as well as 2 other HTA charges relating to Class G1 licence holder. He is to appear in Marathon Criminal Court on April 10, 2013 regarding these charges.
