White River Area Tourism Operator to Pay $2,500 in Fines and Fees

A tourist operator in the White River area was fined for failing to comply with conditions of a Land Use Permit.

612372 Ontario Limited, operating as White River Air, was fined $2,500 when it failed to pay its annual land use permit fees. The company was also ordered to pay up to $118,500 in outstanding fees.

Court heard that between January 1, 2010, and February 28, 2013, White River Air refused to pay the full amount of annual land use fees for its many commercial outpost camps operating in the White River area. After repeated attempts by the Ministry of Natural Resources to collect the outstanding fees, conservation officers investigated and charged the company with failing to comply with the conditions of its land use permits.

Justice of the Peace Pierre Leclerc heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Sault Ste. Marie, on August 1, 2013.
