THESSALON, ON – April 8, 2014, at 12:24 p.m. officers from the East Algoma OPP detachment responded to a single motor vehicle collision East of Desbarats on Highway 17 near Deplonty Road. The collision resulted in one fatality and other passengers being sent to hospital for medical attention. The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
The highway remains closed in both directions while officer’s conduct their investigation. A technical traffic collision investigator (TTCI) from the OPP is on scene to assist with the investigation.
