FLOOD WARNING – Wawa District : White River Watershed

The Ministry of Natural Resources – Wawa District is advising area residents that a Flood Warning remains in effect for the White River watershed. Flooding on the White River and White Lake is occurring.

Residents along the White River should monitor the developing conditions closely and are asked to use extreme caution around water at this time of the year, as water levels on streams, rivers and lakes can change quickly.

MNR is closely monitoring the weather and developing watershed conditions. Further updates will be issued as appropriate.

Description of Weather System

  • Today..Cloudy. Periods of rain beginning near noon. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h this afternoon. High 15.
  • Tonight..Periods of rain ending this evening then cloudy with 60% chance of showers or drizzle. Low 8.
  • Wednesday..A few showers and periods of drizzle ending in the afternoon then cloudy with 40% chance of showers. High 12.
  • Thursday..Cloudy with 30% chance of showers. Low 8. High 15.
  • Friday..Sunny. Low 7. High 18.
  • Saturday..Sunny. Low plus 3. High 18.
  • Sunday..A mix of sun and cloud. Low 7. High 20.

Description of Current Conditions

Snow pack is spotty; northern aspects have some accumulation in Wawa district. The anticipated amounts of precipitation and milder temperatures forecasted will result in remaining snow to continually melt, causing a slower increase in stream flows within the district.

A close watch on local forecasts and conditions is recommended. The message will be updated based on the changing weather/stream flow conditions.
