Rainbow Falls 7th Annual Bass Blast (Inc. Video)

cdntire-fishingTERRACE BAY, ON Officers from the Schreiber OPP detachment and Nipigon District MNR will be helping kids cast a line this summer during the 7th Annual Bass Blast, Saturday, July 5. The theme this year is “Safety in the Outdoors”. 

Organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Nipigon District, and Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police, the event will take place from 11am to 4pm on the East Beach of Rainbow Falls Provincial Park.

Participants can look forward to all sorts of fishing fun and games, a BBQ lunch, giveaways, and prizes for the kids. Anglers are asked to bring their own fishing gear, including a personal flotation device. However, there will be free bait and a limited number of rods, reels and PFDs to borrow on a first-come-first-serve basis. Parents may bring their own boats to enjoy the sights and get to those harder to reach fishing holes in Whitesand Lake, Rainbow Falls has a limited number of canoes and other personal watercraft available for rent.

The Bass Blast focuses on having fun while fishing and is not a competitive event. This year the prizes will be given randomly to children who participates in a “Poster Coloring Event”. As well, OPP and Conservation Officers will be on hand throughout the day in boats and on shore to help the kids reel in a big one.
