ATV CRASH INJURES MALE IN MARATHON

oppcolourMARATHON, ON – Thursday June 26, 2014 approximately 07:50pm, officers from the Marathon detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call regarding a Motor Vehicle Collision (MVC) involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and a motor vehicle. Superior North EMS and Marathon Fire Department attended as well.

Two ATVs were travelling on the Marina Road approximately 4km from Peninsula Road. A motor vehicle traveling in the opposite direction met the ATVs on a corner and due to visibility the ATV travelling in the rear was struck by the motor vehicle.

The driver of the ATV, a 58 year old male from Marathon, was transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to the Regional Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

ATV operators and motorists are asked to use caution when travelling in areas that may be utilized by others.
