NIPIGON MALE CHARGED FOR MULTIPLE WEAPONS OFFENCES

oppcolourNIPIGON, ON – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Nipigon Detachment have charged one individual following a weapons investigation that occurred yesterday in Nipigon, Ontario. 

On Monday, July 14, 2014 shortly after 6:00pm, OPP received a report of a break and enter that occurred at a residence in Nipigon where the complainant reported that a firearm had been stolen. While investigating the break and enter, police discovered the reported missing firearm as well as a number of prohibited and improperly stored firearms in the residence.

As a result of this investigation, one individual has been charged: 

Nelson BELISLE, a 62-year-old male from Nipigon has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon contrary to section 91(2)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm contrary to section 91(1)
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition contrary to section 86(1) x 4

The accused has been held in custody and will appear in Nipigon Court on July 15, 2014.

The investigation is continuing.
