MANITOUWADGE, ON – Information sessions and diabetes screening continues this week offered by the Manitouwadge Diabetes Health & Wellness Program (MDHWP) in a joint  collaboration with the CNIB Eye Van .  A wide variety of free information as well as fun give-a-ways and short, 90 minute, information sessions are among the goodies available free to those who visit Registered Nurse and Diabetes Educator Jackie Jung and Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietician Angel Fonesca.  Screenings and information are located in the Allied Health Care wing by the Manitouwadge Diabetes Health & Wellness / MFHT offices all week.

Drop-In diabetes screening, from 8:30-11:30am and 1:30-4pm, is also free and includes blood sugar testing, a good idea, explained Angel Fonesca, RD, for anyone at risk which includes Aboriginal peoples, those of South Asian descent, seniors, people who are overweight, etc. [Scroll down for video of interview with Fonesca] The special programs meanwhile can benefit anyone interested in healthy living; Tuesdays Facts on Fat and Thursdays Fit and Fabulous (1:30-2:30pm) are presented by Fonesca and are held in the Hospital Board Room and open to the community.

The FHT’s Registered Nurse Cathy Kelly, has kindly offered an informative session specific for Diabetes Patients of Foot Care Basics with a 60 second foot screen on Wednesday’s , again in the Board Room (from 10am – Noon).
