Suspect Apprehended after Canine Search

oppcolourMARATHON ON –On Saturday the 13th of September 2014 approximately 2:00 pm, Officers from the Marathon detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle partially in the westbound ditch of Hwy 17 in Pic Township. [Click Here for original release]

Investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported as stolen from Sudbury, Ontario. One of the occupants fled into the bush, the other was arrested without incident.

The OPP Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit attended the scene and initiated a search for the fleeing suspect. At approximately 3:30pm the fleeing suspect was apprehended.

Jesse BILEY age 22, from Burnaby BC has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime,
  • Resist Peace Officer,
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance
  • Breach of Probation.

Courtney THERRIEN age 23, from Chemainus BC has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Breach of Recognizance.

Both are being held to appear on video for the purposes of a Bail Hearing.
