Marathon Mayor Rick Dumas Remains Unchallenged, 7 Vying For Councillor Positions

marathonlogoMARATHON, ON – It’s that time again, the 2014 municipal electoral race may begin heating up in Marathon as registration for those seeking election has closed and there are nearly double the number of candidates for positions as Town Councillors as there as there are seats to fill.

Mayor Rick Dumas remains unchallenged in his role as Mayor, he will serve the Town of Marathon for another 4 years in what will be his 3rd term. This is the 2nd time Mayor Dumas has been acclaimed to the position.  All 3 current Councillors; Terry Fox, Ray Lake, and Kelly Tsubouchi, have each registered hoping for re-election however, they are joined by 4 others hoping to sit at Marathon’s Council table; Chris Richer, Darlene Cross, Chantal Gingras and Julie Sparrow.  Marathon’s town council includes the Mayor and 4 Councillors and so this race could get interesting.
