MANITOUWADGE, ON – Recent travelers of Highway 614 in to Manitouwadge, may have noticed that the much loved dragons who have lived on a small lake along side the highway for many years, seemed to disappear some time ago.

September 13th, Richard Cichon and Jesse Talian traveled by road and water to ‘rescue’ the dragons which they planned to repair over the winter. Mrs. Cichon, the third member of their dragon-rescue team, was hesitant to publicize her family members’ names explaining they had not taken on the project for media attention “[We] didn’t do it to get our names in the paper; [we are] just excited to have a winter project.” explained Mrs. Cichon adding that once the project was underway they would be welcoming anyone with related artistic talents to assist.

The dragons’ new adoptive family were surprised, as they pulled the dragons from the small lake behind their inflatable dighny, to learn just how heavy the water-logged creators were but determination triumphed as they were successful in towing each to shore and then loading them both into their pick-up truck.  After bringing the dragons home, the rescuers left them out on their lawn for several days to dry off before bringing them down to their basement which will serve as the dragons’ winter cave as well as their repair clinic.

Not having previous experience in dragon rescue the men had to be creative in regards to the logistics of getting them home and in to their basement.

FUN FACT : The dragon pair rescued by Cichon and Talkian are actually the 2nd generation of dragons which replaced the originals approximately 3 years ago.

If you would like to offer your help, leave a comment below with details of what, if any, related skills you have.  OntarioNewsNorth.com will published updates on the dragons’ progress as work progresses.
