MANITOUWADGE, ON – Recently, Manitouwadge Public School Grade 7/8 students in were provided with a wealth of information about a very preventable, and concerning, medical problem – FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder).  Presenters Kristie LaChance and Shirley Desjardins  shone light on the importance of refraining from alcohol consumption during pregnancy.

The students were provided with visual and verbal reminders of the effects of alcohol on a fetus and the long term effects that this can have on the child.  Even though these teenagers may have a long time before they actually  have to worry about this, it is never too soon to make them aware of how serious a problem alcohol consumption can be during pregnancy.

Another valuable life lesson for our young people to carry into adulthood.
