NISHNAWBE-ASKI POLICE IN KASHECHEWAN SEIZE $22,000 IN DRUGS

napssmKASHECHEWAN, ON – While on routine patrol on October 13, 2014, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service members of the Kashechewan Detachment charged a man and woman under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Police seized an approximate street value of twenty-two thousand ($22,000.00) dollars’ worth of Marihuana, along with approximately one thousand two-hundred ($1,200.00) dollars’ worth of liquor, and approximately three hundred thirty ($330.00) in Canadian currency.

Twenty-five (25) year-old Lorraine WESLEY of Kashechewan First Nation was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. 

Thirty (30) year-old Isreal LAZARUS of Kashechewan First Nation was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and also charged with Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code of Canada.

WESLEY was released on conditions and will next appear in court in Kashechewan on January 26, 2015.  LAZARUS was held for a bail hearing and has been released on conditions for court in Kashechewan.
