LSHS Stingers visit the MHS Wolverines

MANITOUWADGE, ON – The value of sport was front and center at the Wolverines Den yesterday as the Wolverines hosted the Lake Superior High School Stingers (Terrace Bay/Schreiber).
The Manitouwadge High School Junior Girls Basketball team of 6 players got off to a rough start yesterday against a much more experienced Stingers team. However, this did not stop their determination. In game 1 of their junior double header, they were beaten 53-8. The girls decided collectively with their coach they would set a goal of 16 points for game two. They not only reached that goal but were within a few baskets of taking the lead in the second game. The very young Wolverine squad worked hard but fell short in the end falling 31-19. They were very thrilled with their progress in game two and hope to improve more as they pay a visit to the Marathon High School Falcons on Thursday.
In other action, the École Secondaire St. Joseph Chevaliers and Michipicoten High School Vikings hosted Chapleau High Schoolas well yesterday in Wawa:
- At Saint Joseph the host Chevaliers defeated the Raiders 25-18,25-16 and the Junior Boys won in three: 25-18, 22-25, 15-10.
- Basketball action the Junior Chevaliers won 19-16, while the senior girls also thwarted the Raider attack 30-21.
- The Raiders were also swept by the Vikings at the Michipicoten gymnasium.
