MANITOUWADGE, ON – Manitouwadge’s Pink Panthers ladies’ hockey team celebrated the start of their 2014-15 season with the first annual Hockey Horror Classic Tournament held October 24-26.  The tournament was a huge success with 8 teams participating; 4 local teams and 4 visiting teams. Of the participating teams while a majority women’s teams competed (5) there were also 3 men’s teams who faced off!

Pink Panthers member, Faye Proctor-Locke, described the team as “Very welcoming to any women who would like to come out and play” explaining they are a recreational hokey team whose members “Really just enjoy the fellowship and fun of the game.  If you’d like to join the ladies, stay active and make new friends they practice Thursdays @8:30pm.  For a cost of just $5/night (hockey equipment required ) this is an affordable activity which any local lady can get it on!

There are players of varying levels on the team, some who played all their lives, others for which joining the team has been the first time they laced up hockey skates (at least on their own feet).  Members OntarioNewsNorth.com has spoken with emphasized that no one should let lack of experience stand in the way of coming out to join the fun!
