UPDATE- OPP Search For Missing Male – Identification Confirmed

oppcolourTHUNDER BAY, ON – Tuesday, January 20, 2015 officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a request from Brandon Police Service (Manitoba) to assist in locating a male that went missing from the Brandon area.

Officers located a vehicle belonging to the male along the Silver Falls Road near the Kaministiquia River. OPP conducted a search of the immediate area but were unable to locate the male. Police believe the male may have entered the water. No foul play is suspected.

Thursday, January 22, 2015, The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (OPP USRU), as well the OPP Forensic Identification Unit, Emergency Response Team (ERT) and officers from Thunder Bay OPP Detachment attended the location where the vehicle was located on Silver Falls Road.

The OPP USRU conducted a search of the Kaministiquia River and subsequently located and recovered a body.

Monday, January 26, 2015, a post mortem was conducted. It has been confirmed that the body located in the Kaministiquia River, is that of the 34 year old male that was reported missing from Brandon, Manitoba. The name of the male is not being released by the OPP. No foul play is suspected.
