WHITE RIVER, ON – July 1st, 2010 – Bingo players from White River, Wawa, Hornepayne and Manitouwadge brought their dabbers and good luck charms to the White River Legion today for a chance at a $1000 pot.  There was a time when it was difficult to find a bingo-free day on the Northshore but that was years ago, these days bingos are few and far between and so it was no surprise that this one was a resounding success, 78 participants total – impressive numbers in White River.

Immediately following the bingo, the legion hall was cleared to prepare for a community Spaghetti Supper in honour of Canada Day. There was a beautiful cake that, unfortunately, had to be cut prior to the doors even being open to the general public as many advance orders for supper had been placed, many by bingo players who were eagerly waiting to get back on the Hwy and on their way towards home.

Traffic in the hall kept up throughout the evening, keeping Harmony Club volunteers at the door and in the kitchen steadily busy.  Spaghetti with a delicious meat sauce, garlic bread, salad and cake were all included for just $8 for adults and $5 for children.  Not one to miss a community event, Mayor Angello Bazzoni was even in attendance though having spent the day busy in meetings.

Congratulations to the many volunteers who made these events a resounding success!
