MARATHON, ON – Thursday, July 29th, Junior golfers from the Peninsula Golf Course’s Future Links Program met with Canadian PGA Professional and Director of Golf at Peninsula, Brett Redden, in preparation of their work as caddies for the Professionals involved in this weekend’s Pro-Am and Skins Tournament.

During their meeting in the Clubhouse, Redden reviewed course and caddying etiquette, who the sponsors of each game are, showed the young golfers of their bibs before heading outside for a cold run on the first tee.

Out on the course at the first tees, Redden played the part of the caddy, even dawning one of the bibs the juniors will wear, while Marathon Pro Golfer/Mini Tour Player, Darcy Donaldson, who will be competing in the skins game on Monday, demonstrated what the professionals will be expecting from their caddies.

Among those recruited for the important task of caddy to the weekend’s professionals are;

For the Pro-Am Tournament on Sunday:

1 Terrace Bay Future Links Golfer

1 Manitouwadge Future Links Golfer

4 Marathon Future Links Golfers

For the $15,000 Pro Tour Skins Game Monday:

6 Marathon Junior Golfers

The opportunity to be involved in a professional level golf tournament is not one which will often be available to the Northshore’s Future Links Golfers and those in attendance at Thursday’s meeting were eagerly anticipating the opportunity even before Redden’s reminder that the would be enjoying the “best view on the course!”
