CHARGE LAID IN FATAL MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

NIPIGON, ON –The Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a Fail to Remain fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred the morning of October 31, 2010.  At approximately 6:30am police attended Hwy 11 and 17, Nipigon Bridge just east of Nipigon, where it was reported that there was a person lying on the road.  The 21 year old male, Miles FAWCETT, of Lake Helen, Ontario was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hwy 11 and 17 was closed for approximately nine hours while police investigated the incident. 

Investigation has resulted in 44-year-old Peter ANGELKOVSKI from Winnipeg, Manitoba being charged with Fail to Stop contrary to section 252 of the Criminal Code.  He has been remanded into custody in Winnipeg and will appear in Kenora Court November 3, 2010.

The North West Region Crime Unit, Nipigon OPP, Forensic Identification Unit and an OPP Reconstructionist are continuing the investigation into this incident.
