McGuinty Government Helping To Keep Energy Costs Down, Protect Jobs

Ontario is helping a gold mine in the Hemlo area near Marathon reduce its energy costs, stay competitive and protect 545 jobs

Through the Northern Industrial Electricity Rate (NIER) program, Williams Operating Corporation will receive energy rebates of two cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to help manage their electricity costs and improve their energy efficiency and sustainability.

Partnering with companies in Northern Ontario communities is part of the McGuinty government’s plan to create and support jobs for Ontario families and to strengthen local economies.
