MANITOUWADGE, ON – Saturday, July 16 Manitouwadge’s 2nd Annual ATV Jamboree saw off road enthusiasts gather to face the challenge of approximately 175km of off-road trail excitement.  The weather was ideal, sunny, warm and dry.

Registered participants, event organizers and volunteers enjoyed suppers Friday in the basement of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a wrap up banquet Saturday evening at KG’s Lounge while the public was encouraged to come out and show their support of the event during the kick-off BBQ lunch held at the ride’s start-point, the Recreation Centre parking lot (Saturday noon).

The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) held an open house coinciding with the Jamboree with an outdoor exhibit parked at the recreation centre Friday and Saturday and NWMO staff on hand to answer questions regarding the ongoing ‘Learn More’ stage Manitouwadge continues participating in (it’s the 2nd year the NWMO uses this opportunity to reach out to residents).

Jamboree oganizers were thrilled to share details of having the maximum 80 riders register (see comment below for info regarding where riders came from) for the jamboree within weeks of it being announced in the Spring; more than 70 actively participated in the event for their chance at the $3000, $2000 and $1000 cash prizes available for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners respectively. All insured off-road vehicles were invited and so there were a variety of traditional 4-wheelers, side-by-side UTV’s, etc which participated lending itself to fun and friendly competition among riders regarding the merits and weaknesses of each though in the end rider expertise and experienced seemed to be perhaps the most measurable advantage to be found!

Congratulations to all those involved on another successful jamboree!
