Back in 1996, the world fell under attack by alien forces with powers much stronger than ours. It was up to Will Smith and a rag tag group of soldiers to protect the Earth from these unwanted visitors. This of course is reference to the film “Independence Day”, the highest grossing movie of that year with an impressive 386 million dollars. Here we are, twenty years later, and a sequel to the original classic is our headline new release this week. Independence Day resurgence brings back familiar characters played by Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum as the world once again falls under attack by aliens. This time though, their technologies are even stronger and more dangerous than before. There are a total of five new releases this week, with a brief synopsis of each below;

VSD WRAP UP

We could not be more pleased to report that our Annual Video Store Day celebration was a HUGE success! The celebrations took place this past Saturday, October 15th from open ‘til close. Hundreds of people came through the doors to enjoy the sales, the free popcorn, the giveaways and the general excitement of the event. Marian Turgeon from Epicure was on hand selling her products and offering up some delicious samples. Bonnie and Chantal Gingras of the L.A.V committee were also on hand offering information and selling tickets in support of the L.A.V. III Monument. Members of the Marathon Figure Skating Club braved the elements to serve up some BBQ to our hungry customers (all proceeds from the BBQ went to the Figure Skating Club). There were two prizes up for raffle including a Samsung Blu-Ray player valued at 100 dollars. The winner of the $25 Gift Certificate was John Kwandibens. Jamie Lowndes was lucky enough to take home the Blu-Ray player.

Video Store Day was created six years ago as a way of reminding customers to support their locally owned Independent Video Stores. The intention was to get people into the stores to remind them of the enjoyment of the video store experience- browsing the aisles and chatting about movies with fellow customers or friendly staff. We feel as though our celebration truly accomplished this goal. Please check back for pictures of the event in next week’s Crossover Insider.

For now, the staff at Crossover would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who came out and helped make our Video Store Day celebrations a HUGE success! We are truly lucky to have such loyal customers- we value your support! We look forward to being your local source for movies (and all things entertainment) for many years to come! Thanks again!

Have a safe week and don’t forget to support your local businesses!
