Nipigon OPP Seize Contraband Tobacco

OPPcolourNIPIGON, ON – On November 2, 2016 at approximately 11:40 am, members of the Schreiber Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17.

An investigation revealed he was transporting a quantity of unmarked cigarettes. A search of the vehicle revealed approximately 100,000 illegal cigarettes, with an approximate street value of $20,000.

As a result of the investigation, Thomas TRESOOR, 61 years old of Wanipigow, Manitoba has been charged with the following offences:

  1. Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco contrary to Section 121.1 of the Criminal Code.
  2. Possess unmarked cigarettes for sale contrary to Section 29(1) of the Tobacco Tax Act.
  3. Possess unmarked cigarettes contrary to Section 29(2) of the Tobacco Tax Act.
