MANITOUWADGE, ON – Saturday, December 22nd the 5th Annual Copper Kings Alumni game for the Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group was held at the Manitouwadge Arena. Organized primarily by Toby Mattson, the evening included a silent auction, 50/50 draw, intermission scrimage by some of the current Copper Kings stars as well as a couple of the ever popular puck drops.
The event was a great success in spite of smaller attendance numbers than past years with more than $4000 raised for the MCAG. Though Organizer Toby Mattson was unable to attend the 2012 game he was assisted by MCAG volunteers who worked the silent auction as well as having the help of friends Bronson Keough and Aaron Baker when it came to coordinating the players and on-ice action.
Those in the audience enjoyed some intense action as the players went all out for the entire game as can be seen in the videos below provided with the help of Kyle Campbell (who also shares some rink-side commentary for much of the 2nd period video – please note there may be language which some viewers consider offensive and unsuitable for children).
The money raised will go a long way in helping the MCAG provide assistance to locals faced with cancer. Thanks to all those who collaborated to ensure the 5th Annual Copper Kings Alumni Game was a huge success.
