MANITOUWADGE, ON – Valentine’s Day, the students and staff at MPS took advantage of the opportunity to buy a Candygram for their friends and classmates and show them how they are appreciated and cared about.
The Student Council organized the sale of the “Candygrams” which were Valentines which each had a covered chocolate heart placed on them. On Valentine’s Day the Candygrams were sorted and delivered to the classrooms by Student Council members. The Student Council delivery people reaped a valuable reward when they saw the smiles on the faces of the little ones as they received their Candygrams.
This was a great reminder that learning is not always about academics or the lessons found in workbooks. This event was a learning opportunity for the Student Council members as they planned, organized and carried out a plan to incorporate an extra little bit of joy for their peers. Their leadership skills are being practiced and no doubt will blossom as they become productive adults.
