SUPERIOR EAST OPP WEEKEND REVIEW – August 30 to September 2

BREAK AND ENTER TO LOCAL BUSINESS

WAWA, ON – August 30, 2012 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were advised of a break in to a basement storage area belonging to a business on Mackey Street.  The break in is believed to have occurred sometime between August 24 and 30, 2012.  Nothing was reported stolen from the business.  Anyone with any information is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.

ALBERTA DRIVER CHARGED WITH STUNT DRIVING

CHAPLEAU, ON – August 31, 2012 at 12:45 pm the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Chapleau Detachment were conducting radar patrol on Highway 101 in Caouette Township.  A 2011 Lincoln MKX was recorded driving in excess of 60 kilometres per hour of the posted 80 kilometres per hour speed limit and it was observed passing other motor vehicles unsafely.  The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the driver, 53 year old Dairong DENG of Calgary, Alberta was charged under section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.  The accused driver’s license was seized and the vehicle was impounded for the mandatory 7 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Provincial Offences Court in Chapleau on November 7, 2012.

CHAPLEAU MALE FACES MULTIPLE CHARGES

CHAPLEAU, ON – September 1, 2012 at 2:34 am the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Chapleau Detachment observed a 2005 Ford F-150 pickup west bound on Pine Street in Chapleau with no headlights activated.  The vehicle was stopped and after further investigation the driver and lone occupant, 19 year old Kyle PAQUETTE of Chapleau,Ontario was arrested for Impaired Driving.

The accused was subsequently charged with the following Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences;

  1. Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  2. Exceed 80 milligrams of Blood/Alcohol Content
  3. Drive Disqualified
  4. Breach of Probation – 3 counts
  5. Take Motor Vehicle without Consent
  6. Drive while under suspension

He will appear in Chapleau Court on September 19, 2012 to answer to these charges.

MISCHIEF TO HEAVY EQUIPEMENT

CHAPLEAU, ON – September 2, 2012 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Chapleau Detachment were advised of damage to an excavator located on Highway 101 in Chapleau Township.  Damage to the yellow Toromont Excavator owned by Leroy Construction consisted of two broken windows.  An OPP Scenes of Crime Officer attended the scene and collected evidence for further investigation.  OPP continue to investigate this matter and ask that anyone with any information to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.
