Fall is fast approaching and the Drop In is back to the regular: committees meet, the executive meets and the general meeting for September was held on the 14th.

The executive, despite an election in June is the same. So you have two years to get it together and become a member!

We do hope to have a change in the committee structure. For years the “committees” have each consisted of one person, usually an executive member. It is definitely a time for a change! There are five committees: Social; Ways & Means, Benevolent, Membership and the Back Room Committee. The last one is the newest and actually has members! The other four organize and keep records and help our social club exist and work for the members. Each member will be getting a call to request assistance: can you help out on a committee, please? It will require a commitment of your time but as of yet no regularly scheduled meetings get held; probably talking to oneself is considered a bit odd, to say the least!

The Ways and Means Committee (were there a real one) would be gearing up with the fall activities:

  • turkey pies (order sheets go up this week);
  • a Mac & Cheese Luncheon on October 28;
  • the Bazaar in late November (25?) or early December (2?).

If you have a suggestion as t dates etc. feel free to call the Drop In at 705 856 7394 any weekday afternoon and ask for Carol.

Also do remember that the latter stages of October and early November will see a need for all those people who enjoy getting together to do some work and have some fun at it to join us for the processing of the turkey pies to fill those orders.

On Friday September 16, 2016, the Rotary Club members provided a spaghetti dinner for the group of bike riders who were going through on a cross country ride to raise funds as part of the Sear’s Ride for Kids’ Cancer Research. They put in a good deal of work is setting up, cleaning up and serving. We were glad to be able to have them use our facility and thank them for working on behalf of our community. And sharing is good!

We are still doing our regularly scheduled bridge, eucre or cribbage, and mah jongg. If you want to learn bridge on Tuesday or mah jongg on Friday, do come to the Drop In for about 1:00.
