Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group Chooses Between Fundraising Events

MANITOUWADGE, ON – The Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group members are finding that our small group is having difficulty maintaining our usual fundraisers.

At this time , it’s been a group decision to NOT go forward with the Connie Williams Golf Tournament scheduled for July 7th.

We truly appreciate your support and generosity in previous years for this tournament and for all our other fundraisers. It’s been an honour to hold this tournament over the years in Connie Williams’ memory.

Our next fundraiser:

WHAT: Share The Care Walk
WHEN: Saturday, May 12th from 11am – 1pm.
WHY:    Come join us for our BBQ and Walk.

(Pledge sheets no longer required, watch for ad on OntarioNewsNorth.com homeeepage)

WHERE:  Meet at the Recreation Centre parking lot for a walk to Geco Bridge (or shorter if you wish).

The Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group was formed in April, 2007 by a group of individuals whose lives had been touched by cancer in various ways.

Once a month the executive meets at the Manitouwadge General Hospital to discuss future fundraisers and bring forward new ideas. We have in place a Constitution and By-Laws, which guide our decision making.

Our Mission is to raise funds so that we can continue to provide assistance to Manitouwadge cancer patients receiving treatment / or professional supportive care. When patients have exhausted all funding options such as Canadian Cancer society, Northern Travel Grant, or their personal or employer health plans, Government agencies such as Ontario Works / Disability our organization can supply some aid when funds permit.

Our fundraising and donations allow us to assist cancer patients with expenses such as prosthesis, prescription medications (when not covered by drug plans), oxygen, travel and accommodations while attending appointments or treatments.

Since 2007, thanks to the generosity of our community, many donations and volunteers, we have raised over $100,000.00 which has allowed them to fulfil 183 requests for assistance as of March 2012.

If you, or someone you know, require assistance please submit a letter to:

The Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group,
Box 3034, Manitouwadge, ON P0T 2C0

or contact one of our Board Members: Anne Williams, Clare Milks, Debbie Ray, Priscilla Gray, Betty Oksanen, or Jackie Jung.
