Emeraude’s disolving experiments…

Jan.19.2009 Emeraude had tried adding coffee to her liquid glue the other day to make a picture that looked like dirt but the coffee disolved and looked more like mud. We found this very interesting and I suggested that we try to see what other kitchen ingredients might disolve when we added them to liquid glue. This went well and we did not want to stop so we decided to try the same ingredients first in hot water, than cold. The baking powder was a surpise to me (Emeraude had hypothisized that it would erupt remembering the vinegar +baking soda experiment… I did not think it would have any similar effect, silly Mommy) it not only bubbled but made quite a bit of smoke which was really cool. It was neat that she included Cheerios & bird seed which I wouldn’t have suggested. The cheerios got soft in the hot water of course, they broke apart quickly in the baking powder + water (warm & cold) which we found interesting. A great morning activity, recommend it to anyone and bet we will probably try again with more combinations some time when we have Lloyd with us as well.
