Publishing project progress

I continue to work diligently on the Emeraude Exploring collection. Last week we visited Canada Post. Jen was AWESOME! Emeraude enjoyed herself very much and we both learned all about the journey an envelope takes through the post office.

The photos went well (unfortunately, the Post Master is shy and prefers not to be photographed, I am still uncertain about the final product with this little challenge added in, we will see…) and I have realized there is one or maybe two more I need to return for but Emeraude does not have to accompany me for these. Normally I do not go far without my girl but for the past few days she has been staying at Daddy’s house as he is layed off for a couple weeks.

I miss her terribly but she is enjoying herself SO MUCH! She has never stayed with Daniel for such an extended period of time (it is Monday night and she has slept there since Saturday!!). I am taking full advantage to try and get as much desk work done as possible. I was also able to help Lloyd clean his rooms upstairs on Sunday which was nice (she will be so impressed next time she goes up to see brother lol)

This afternoon, I went to see our Economic Development Officer who has been helping me write my cover letter for Second Story Press. I went in very uncomfortable, embarrassed at the shabby piece of a letter I had to date but he is friendly, professional and able to put a person very much at ease. I got over my shortcomings quickly, knowing that if I expected his help, he would need to see the ‘letter’ that I had so far.  It went very, very well. We worked at it for 2 hours and I now need simply to transfer our notes to my laptop (should have brought that along) and I will be ready to put everything into an envelope, say a prayer and send it off to Second Story Press… Then the waiting will begin, they warn on their website to expect a 6-9 month wait before they contact, that will be a long 6 months!!!

I continue to work on the other books in the collection, we might possibly complete it by the time contact occurs which would be somewhat dissapointing. I would have preferred to have a contract of some kind to allow us to focus entirely on the books. Working on the collection independant from any contract means that I need to continue earning income elsewhere AND keep the collection moving forward. This will be a difficult balancing act…
