Lloyd’s company

Well, it’s been such a busy week that I did not even have the opportunity to post about LLoyd having company. His dad, Darrell White, drove through on his superbike, apparently headed for Newfoundland (although this was not easy to establish as there were other destinations mentioned as the purpose for his trip and try as I might to decipher the information in the hopes of offering Lloyd an answer to where Darrell was headed, none seemed consistent).

Lloyd was relieved when he arrived just before lunch after having called the day before at 14h30 (2:30pm) to say he was in Schreiber and on his way. It was raining quite heavily and after waiting most of the day and on into the evening for his father to arrive, Lloyd was concerned to put it mildly. I on the other hand was very angry, not at all enjoying my son, who himself is so responsible and courteous when it comes to keeping in touch and calling to ensure I do not worry about his whereabouts being put through such stress by an adult. I was not terribly worried, quite certain that it was just another inconsiderate episode but did not know how to verbalize this to Lloyd without hurting his feelings more or being rude (also I had no way of knowing what exactly had happened; had he had bike problems, stopped over somewhere, driven right passed the corner of the 614?).

As it turned out he had in fact arrived in Manitouwadge the evening prior and went to a friends house instead of coming to see Lloyd who he had called just 4 hours or so earlier (by the time he showed up he had kept Lloyd waiting and worrying for almost 24 hours – ridiculous) and then had a few beer and not wanted to drive (he seemed to want some applause from me for this, I pointed out that Manitouwadge still has taxis and of course is small enough for most people to enjoy walking one end of town to the other). Oh well, he was now here so I didn’t dwell on it and was proud of Lloyd that he did not either but rather decided to make the best of it from that point forward.

He stayed for 3 or 4 days (I wasn’t paying that much attention) Emeraude was also happy to see him (I think it was as much the idea of company and the anticipation of knowing who her brother had been expecting). He left Wednesday morning, headed for Sudbury (Lloyd has lost a good friend this week who’s funeral service is in Sudbury but I would not have wanted Lloyd to travel with him even had he offered but I think Lloyd would’ve appreciated the offer). I had planned to get a ride from him to the Sault for my port-a-cath removal appointment but that didn’t happen for a multitude of reasons, most having nothing to do with him (it seemed he would have if I had a vehicle available for the trip).

I would’ve greatly appreciated if he had, at least tried to be available for my trips to the er but that didn’t really happen (in 4 days I think he might have driven me twice or 3 times at most, that would be out of about 20 times that I went).

Darrell said when leaving that he would be back in about a month and plans to stop by again hoping to stay here. I would prefer I think that he found somewhere else to stay but worry that Lloyd would not see him at all if not for his needing to sleep and do his laundry here (when he noticed I would not be preparing him meals around the clock he seemed quite put off and mostly spent his time ‘visiting’ others).

Oh well, I think in the bigger picture it was a good visit (some really big picture that I do not yet see in focus maybe). As I said I think Lloyd was happy he came so that’s all that matters.
