Moneys raised had yet to be tallied at press time but past years had cumulatively collected approximately $1000 for the Terry Fox Foundation.  Parents who accompanied their children on the walk, stayed to enjoy lunch afterwards. Teachers were pleased with how the walk had unfolded. Milks added “We couldn’t have asked for more from the kids….it is impressive when such a large group remains safe and without incident, the OPP was obviously a big factor in keeping the walk fun and safe and we thank them for their diligence in controlling traffic at every intersection and road crossing along the way, we couldn’t have done it without them!”

Emeraude had donated her extra Terry Fox t-shirt and they let her draw the name for it which made her feel quite special.

had three vehicles and several officers on hand who accompanied the participants which, exiting the school yard on Flicker Avenue with members numbering in excess of a hundred walking in orderly pairs, were reminiscent of a parade as they continued down Redwing and onto Oshweeken Road. Reaching the top of the hill on Oshweeken, they rounded the traffic circle to begin their descent down the hill and retrace their steps back to the school.’s school families were excited Wednesday as they gathered outside their school ready to participate in their 5th annual ‘Terry Fox Run’ walk.  A photo was taken of the enthusiastic group before Mrs. Clair Milks, OLOL Teacher, addressed the group, elaborating on Terry Fox’s life and the struggle with cancer which inspired him to run his Marathon of Hope. She explained how their continued support of the Terry Fox Foundation, is helping to fund cancer research reiterating that their hard work gathering pledges and participating in the walk was drawing nearer the day when “We could make cancer history”.
