Hawks vs. Wolverines Jr. and Sr. Boys Volleyball at MHS

by Karina Hunter

Students from Hornepayne High School traveled to Manitouwadge on Thursday October 1st as the Junior and Senior Hawks came to face off against Junior and Senior Wolverines Volleyball teams in exhibition games helping them prepare for upcoming North Superior Secondary School Athletic Association (NSSSAA) playoffs to begin in November.

Manitouwadge Wolverines’ Junior Boys won all three sets against the Hawks Junior team; 15-2, 15-11 and 25-15 respectively. The Wolverines seem at this point to be looking at a repeat of last year’s perfect record when they won NSSSAA without having lost a single game all season! The junior boys had originally been scheduled to play 4 sets though the last game was cancelled to allow Hornepayne teams to get back on the highway for their long trip home before it was too late.

Manitouwadge Wolverines’ Senior Boys played well winning their first three sets 15-11, 15-13, 25-16 respectively before the Senior Hawks took the final set 25-19.

This Saturday, October 4th volleyball action continues at Manitouwadge High School with a senior boys’ invitational tournament which will see them face off against Terrace Bay’s Lake Superior High School Hornets, Marathon High School’s Vikings and their own Wolverine’s Junior Boys Volleyball team.

Good luck to the Wolverine’s in their games tomorrow, eager to see if history will repeat itself with the juniors taking the seniors as they did last year.
