Emeraude is definitely the Wolverines' biggest fan. She was so flattered and excited that Mrs. J came to cheer with her, it was great!

Junior and Senior Girls Basketball teams and Junior and Senior Volleyball teams representing the Michipicoten High School Vikings from Wawa, On came to Manitouwadge High School Friday to face their Wolverines counterparts in the hopes of securing their place in November’s North Superior Secondary School Athletic Association (NSSSAA) playoffs.

Manitouwadge’s Junior Girls Wolverines basketball team, coached by Gord Martin played hard winning both their games 39 – 14 and 25 – 18  respectively.  Coached by Chris and Phil Leduc the Wolverines Senior Girls basketball action was fierce, the girls having dedicated their season to friend Jamie Lee Hoban, the game even going into overtime at which point the Vikings Seniors Girls won, 29-22.

Meanwhile the boys, not to be outdone, fought their way through the day with a Vikings shut out. The Wolverines Junior boys, coached by Kevin Osadchuk and Ted Lalonde, won their right to play at NSSSAA semi-finals overwhelmingly as the first game was won 25-5, 25-11, and 15-8 their 2nd game later in the day was even more impressive when they won with sets of 25-9, 25-12, and 15-4. Wayne Pittman and Toby Mateson coached the Wolverines Senior boys to victory as the won against the Vikings with sets of 25-12, 25-23, and 17-15.
