kathleenWynneAnticipation is growing in Northern Ontario as residents prepare for the arrival of the Honourable Kathleen Wynne, Minister of Transportation, on Tuesday, February 9th in Wawa, Ontario where she is part of a delegation of key political figures participating in Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Mike Brown’s Annual Snow Tour.  Snow Tour 2010 will offer northern residents and businesses a rarely had opportunity to bring their unique transportation issues forward to Wynne in person, as she travels the trails of the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) via snowmobile gaining first hand experience of the challenges faced by northern communities in regards to transportation including those directly related to the OFSC snowmobile trail system which has seen a dramatic decline in tourist traffic over the past three years. It will be interesting to see how Wynne, MPP of the southern Ontario riding Don Valley West adapts to traveling by snowmobile as she will be visiting on Day 2 of the tour, Dubreuiville Ontario, 200km total round trip from Wawa,  with terrain which includes what locals refer to as “hills from Hell”.
