Celebrating Saint Patrick

St.Patrick’s Day Tea

by Karina Hunter

Shoppers check out what's left at the bake sale table.

Ladies of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Catholic Women’s Society (CWS) in Manitouwadge organized and hosted a tea Sunday in celebration of St.Patrick’s Day.  Many residents came out to socialize and enjoy the treats offered, those
who purchased tea tickets were served tea, coffee or juice and a plate of assorted sandwiches and sweets; there was also a dessert table with a variety of homemade confections for purchase.

Karen Robinson, member of the CWS explained that their group has seen a decline recently in use of the hall and decided who better to put it to service than the CWS.  The CWS is a women’s group which supports the parish and school via fundraisers and organization of special events; they also have a long standing tradition of gifting children practicing sacraments such as First Communion and Holy Confirmation.

The Parish Hall was decorated with clovers and good wishes in Gaelic in honour of St. Patrick's Day.

What’s next for the CWS? They will be hosting a spaghetti supper in April, watch The Echo or www.OntarioNewsNorth.com for details. If you would like to join the Catholic Women’s Society or for more information call Karen Robinson at 826-4832 or join them at their next meeting.
