Business Association to formalize

by Karina Hunter

Left, long time Manitouwadge business owner Jim Moffat explains the necessity of formalization to the MBA’s success; to his right are Maggie Schut and EDO Dave Raymond.

The Manitouwadge Business Association held their monthly business breakfast Tuesday, March 23rd; approximately a dozen businesses of various sizes were represented at the open meeting.

Among items reviewed and discussed at the meeting were the 2010 Manitouwadge Trade Show, projects which several member businesses have under review for their businesses, and opinions in regards to the current format of leadership within the Association. After much debate, it was decided that though members wished to have the Economic Development Department of the Township continue in its role as Chair, they wished this to be formalized, EDO Dave Raymond will have necessary paperwork for this at their next meeting to be held the evening of April 20th at 7pm.

MBA Member Maggie Schut, Hawberry Fields Home and Property Care, will be featuring a local business randomly chosen from among the members in a monthly column titled Business Beat to be submitted to The Echo and www.OntarioNewsNorth.com; the column will include details of the services or products offered by the highlighted business as well as introducing the owners/operators.
