Terrace Bay Cultural Centre Project Begins

from SNCFDC Regional Update Feb.2010

The Terrace Bay Cultural Centre Project, to be located in a vacant catholic school site, was officially approved for construction by Town Council on December 21st, 2009 with the start date of January 4th, 2010. The $2 million project will include renovating the North wing for the relocation of the Terrace Bay Public Library and renovating the South wing to include a kitchen and washrooms for a full-service community hall.  The North wing renovations will involve remodeling the classroom style into a more open concept look to fit the needs of the Library.  Work on removing asbestos and engineering has already been completed.   The renovations are expected to be completed in the summer of 2010.  The project received funding from the Building Canada Fund, NOHFC, and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.  For more information, please visit www.terracebay.ca/cc.
