Manitou  Sno-Drifter receives special recognition

Marathon Sno-Kickers’ Gordon Linfield, VIA Coordinator and Operations Director for District 16, was on hand to make a special presentation to the Sno-Drifters’ recently retired President, Mr. Phil Leduc.  Leduc’s many volunteer hours, spent improving the club’s trail system, were recognized as he received the District 16 Volunteer of the Year Award.  He was selected, in part, for his coordination of student volunteers who earned community service hours for their contributions to the Sno-Drifters, and was chosen having been among those nominated by each of the North of Superior Snowmobile Association’s (NOSSA) 10 member clubs. 

Included in the long list of tasks accomplished by the volunteers in attendance (aforementioned students, Sno-Drifters executive and members): the completion of the Nama Creek Bridge, the completion of the signage to Hillsport and the completion of a bypass around the Villeneuve Pit on Highway 614. 

A slideshow of the season’s activities ran throughout the evening while volunteers, some of whom had not had the opportunity to meet during the season, socialized and reminisced, while hearing details of all the season’s successes.   The Sno-Drifters next scheduled gathering is their Annual General Meeting for which a date has yet to be set.

,ON – Saturday, April 24th the Manitou Sno-Drifters held their Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner; funded in part by the OFSC’s Volunteers in Action Fund (VIA) the delicious steak supper was catered on site by KG’s Bar and Lounge.  Many volunteers who contributed during the 2009-10 snowmobile season accepted the invitation to attend and celebrate the winter’s successes.
