The Mobile Breast Screening Van is Coming….

The Northwestern Ontario Breast Screening Program

will be coming to

White River from June 8^th and 9^th, 2010   

and will be located at the

White River Medical Clinic

Did you Know?

Ø      7800 Ontario women will develop breast cancer

Ø     2000 Ontario women will die from it

Ø     1 in 9 women has a chance of developing breast cancer in her lifetime

Ø     75 % of breast cancers are found in women aged 50 and over 

The Breast Screening Program includes:

·        Teaching on Breast self-examination

·        A breast exam by a specially trained nurse examiner

·        Screening mammography (breast x-ray)

Women who are 50 and over can call 1-800-461-7031 to make an appointment.  Both the woman and her doctor will receive a copy of her results.  She will be recalled every two years thereafter unless otherwise recommended.  Women under age 50 need a physician’s referral for a mammogram.
