McGuinty Government Officially Opens 2010 Parks Season

Most Ontario Parks will open on Friday, May 14, 2010.  

Visitors will find a range of recreational and educational activities in the parks. For example, they can:

  • Go on a boat tour in Bon Echo Provincial Park north of Napanee
  • Catch an early morning panfish in the sheltered Lake Ontario waters of Darlington Provincial Park near Toronto
  • Enjoy a day-picnic at Fushimi Lake Provincial Park near Hearst
  • Rent a four-bedroom Victorian home at Sandbanks Provincial Park near Picton 
  • Go on an overnight adventure by canoe or kayak in Killarney Provincial Park.

QUICK FACTS

  • There are 329 provincial parks in Ontario and more than 100 provide visitor facilities.
  • Last year, 9.5 million visits were made by people from around the world to Ontario Parks. Many Ontario Parks provide barrier-free facilities.
  • There is an 11-day ban on the possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages in 44 provincial parks starting on May 14.

There are many Provincial Parks in Nortwestern Ontario, White Lake PP, Neys PP, Rainbow Falls PP, MacLeod PP, Sleeping Giant PP, Obatanga PP, Batchewana PP, just to name a few. This summer, pack up the kids and head to a Provincial Park for the weekend, it’s an affordable vacation where you’ll make family memories to last a lifetime!
