Christa Hatton unveils the confirmed events for the 2010 Poohfest.

Members of the Winnie the Pooh Festival Committee met last Thursday (April 29) to discuss planning to date and identify what had yet to be finalized.  Christa Hatton, Festival Coordinator for the Township of White River, shared news of the many exciting acts whose appearances have been confirmed for the festival including Juno Nominee Fred Eaglesmith who will get things started Wednesday August 18th and two shows by CAMP ROCK which features  tribute performances to Hannah Montana, the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato and others on Saturday . These and other performances throughout the weekend offer something to fans of all ages.

Also discussed at the meeting were details of where a campground may be organized for the weekend. This in anticipation of the hundreds who have already confirmed their attendance for Poohfest activities and the Reunion being held in conjuction with Poohfest on Facebook, and to accommodate the many Northshore neighbours which White River welcomes for the one-of-a-kind weekend.

Centrally located, White River is within approximately an hour’s drive from no less than FIVE other Northshore Communities; Pic Mobert, Dubreuilville, Wawa, Hornepayne, Manitouwadge and Marathon!

Hatton wound up the meeting by surprising the committee with  a  framed certificate they have received in recognition of their 59th placing on the Top 100 Ontario Festivals list (see www.OntarioNewsNorth.com/?p=11387 for details), very special recognition, especially for a small town like White River, others who made the Top 100 list include the Ottawa Canada Day Celebrations, Toronto Fringe Festival and Canadian Tulip Festival.

Volunteers are still needed to help with many aspects of the Festival, for more information or to give your name as a volunteer call Trista Hatton at 822-2450 – High School students can earn community service hours, which they need to graduate, by volunteering for Poohfest
