Youth crash stolen vehicle in Marathon

MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(MARATHON, ON.) –On May 25, 2010 at 06:45am the Marathon  OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 17, West of the Hemlo Mine site, located East of Marathon.

One motor vehicle traveling East bound left the roadway rolling over coming to rest in the ditch. The Marathon Fire Department and EMS attended the scene. The three occupants of the vehicle were able to exit the vehicle and later transported to Wilson Memorial General Hospital in Marathon were they were treated for minor injuries.

Upon further investigation it was discovered that the vehicle in the accident was stolen from a residence in Terrace Bay a few hours earlier. The three occupants of the vehicle had also been involved in a previous motor vehicle collision East of Terrace Bay, on Highway 17, 2km East of Sawmill Creek with a motor vehicle stolen from the Thunder Bay area.

Names cannot be released due to the individuals being youths. The three youths have been charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Dangerous driving and Breach of Conditions.

The OPP are continuing their investigation regarding this collision.
