$1500 and 3 Deer in the Canyon

2010 Canyon Country Challenge

by Marvin Broughton

DORION, ON – The 7th Annual Canyon Country Classic was held on Saturday, June 12 at the Dorion Community Centre in Dorion.  About 100 participants turned out for the race and were greeted with ideal running weather as the day was cloudy and fairly cool.

The participants in the 5 KM race raised a total of just over $1500 dollars for the Heart and Stroke foundation.   Although three deer were spotted on the course earlier in the day, there were none reported during the race.

All participants and volunteers were treated to a fine lunch of non-meat lasagna, homemade buns, fresh veggies and dip and fresh fruit.

The organizers would like to thank all volunteers and participants for their involvement in helping make this race a great success once more.
