Students of the School Readiness Program offered by the Manitouwadge Best Start Hub enjoyed  new experience recently.

Next year’s Junior Kindergarten students who will be attending Manitouwadge Public School or Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, took a special ride around town with bus driver Donna Jaunzarins (Right) and their teachers, Kelly Sagle and Linda Jette (Left).

Sagle had discussed bus safety and what the ride would consist of in length with the children before hand to ensure that everyone was comfortable with the adventure ahead. For many, this was the first time they had ever ride on a school bus.

Driver Donna Jaunzarins was happy to meet her future riders “Having these ‘practice’ rides, goes a long way in helping to  aclimatize the little ones; ensuring they understand bus safety and what is expected of them while removing any ‘fear of the unknown’ that may exist in their minds” said Jaunzarins adding that “I look forward to seeing them all again in September, they did very well on their first ride!”.

The students spent 8 weeks attending the School Readiness Program, which Sagle coordinated through the Best Start Hub, for two hours, two afternoons a week.
