Preparing for Summerfest

MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Wolly Mammoths practice in the garage at P&R Heating earlier this week.

MARATHON, ON – Marathon’s biggest party in years is just around the corner and organizers are digging deep to pull it all together; they met this week to discuss last minute details, dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s to ensure Summerfest is a hit.

There aren’t many details which Andre Paris, the local business owner who initiated Marathon Summerfest 2010, and his team of volunteers and co-organizers have not thought of.

Among the details ironed out at the meeting and in this last week before the fun kicks off:

  • Promotion of individual events,
  • Pizza Hut will be supplying the food for Friday’s night though a non-profit was needed to serve and sell the food (and of course coollect the profits), Answer: the Marathon Museum will and to dish out delicious pizza and pasta for attendees
  • Saturday Night, was missing a food vendor, Answer:Marathon Bowling Lanes stepped forward for this and will be offering a variety of delicious options to fill hungry bellies (there was talk of chili being included on the menu)
  • Dance and Fish Derby tickets are selling great thanks to a table at the Marathon Centre Mall, more volunteers were needed however to staff the table, several people volunteered to help out with that including yours truly, the Editor of OntarioNewsNorth.com this afternoon, and I’m looking forward to meeting many new Marathon faces in the process.
  • André still needs reflective vests for volunteers, anyone who has these can drop them off at P&R Heating, your name will be added to the vest and every effort will be made to have it returned to you after Summerfest
