Roadside attraction will not be replaced
HWY 614/17 – Sometime between the June 7th and 12th, 2010 the approximately 30 foot bicycle post at the Manitouwadge Play in the Extreme traveller’s repose (Waterfall w/giant snowmobile & ATV monument location) fell to the ground. It appears that rust was the reason behind the post having fallen and that no foul play was involved.
Karen Robinson, Administrative Assitant for the Township of Maitouwadg Economic Development department explained that due to the manpower and cost which would be involved in replacing the popular sight it will, unfortunately, not be replaced.
It is hoped that a corporate partner may be available to have the post permanently removed and disposed of though until this happens people are asked to stay clear of the post to avoid any harm or injury.
