MANITOUWADGE, ON – The Manitouwadge Business Association held their regularly scheduled meeting tonight; on the agenda was the much anticipated election of an executive for the group which had been postponed on two previous occasions.

Nominations for Chair, Vice-Chair and Treasurer had been moved at the last meeting though unfortunately the candidate nominated for Treasurer did not let their name stand and so a fresh nomination was required for this position along with those of Secretary and 3 directors.  Elected unanimously into their positions were the following 7 volunteers;

  • Chair – EDO Dave Raymond. Though the only non-business owner on the executive, it was agreed by all that Raymond’s experience with non-profit organizations, leading meetings and his objective opinion would serve the association very well during its inaugural year.
  • Elected as Vice-Chair was Jim Moffat;
  • Treasurer position will be filled by Sue Partridge;
  • Maggie Schut was elected to perform as Secretary for the group
  • Linda Baril, Karina Hunter and Kristy Wells will sit as Directors.

The MBA Business Beat, a monthly summary of the groups’ activities including the introduction of a featured member business will continue to be written by Schut and is available to read on OntarioNewsNorth.com, with a fresh issue being published the 4th Wednesday of every month.  Though the Beat had originally been appearing in both local Manitouwadge newspapers, OntarioNewsNorth.com is now the exclusive newspaper carrying the popular column. Click on the MBA Business Beat link on the Home Page of OntarioNewsNorth.com to view all issues of the MBA Business Beat (with the most recent listed first) and watch for the latest issue next Wednesday, July 28th in which Jiffy Spray Car Wash will be the featured business.
