Last Summer Songs

PIC RIVIER, ON – Friday, August 20th, Singer/Songwriter Bonnie Couchie put out an impromptu invitation to friends, family and the general public, encouraging everyone to visit her at the Pic River Guest Suite, which she also owns/operates.

She and her daughter gave an encore presentation of the performance from Live From The Rock in Red Rock earlier in month. Her Grampa Lamert, a guitarist and vocalist, also treated attendees to a great performance; a mix of Ojibway and English lyrics to traditional and original blues songs.

The evening was well attended by friends from near and far (I couldn’t help noticing the American licence plates on one of the vehicles parked in the driveway) and, as has come to be expected by those who attend Couchie’s House Concerts, the music was first class! A great evening to wind up the Summer of 2010. Couchie and her daughter’s harmonies blend so beautifully together, their audience was wiping back tears on more than one occasion. This was most noticable when Couchie’s daughter performed a crisp, clear, accapella tribute to Ella Fitzgerald that the original artist would’ve been hard pressed to improve upon!
